Chris Christie has defended a plan to fly the state and American flags in New Jersey at half-staff on Saturday in Ms. Houston’s honor, tweeting that he was doing so in recognition of “her cultural contributions as an artist & New Jerseyan. Christie did the same thing last year in honor of Clarence Clemons.
