X FACTOR LOSES HOST AND A JUDGE (WE ALL KNEW THIS JUDGE WAS GETTING FIRED)

The contestants on “X Factor’s” second season won’t be the only new faces, as Simon Cowell’s reality competition has cleaned house. Fox has confirmed to CNN that neither “X Factor” host Steve Jones nor mentor/judge Nicole Scherzinger will return for the show’s second season. Jones also confirmed the news via his Twitter account, simply saying that it was a “shame” but that he did have a great time. I wont be hosting next seasons XFactor which is a shame but I cant complain as I've had a great time. Good luck to everyone on the show.—Steve Jones (@SteveJones) January 31, 2012 To top it off, there are also rumors that Paula Abdul’s gotten the boot, with Deadline citing “a Simon Cowell insider” as saying that she won’t be back for season 2. (Fans of the series will recall that both Abdul and Scherzinger came under fire following the surprise elimination of contestant Drew Ryniewicz.) If the reports that Abdul is also off the show are true, that means only Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid — who has made quick work of signing “X Factor” winner Melanie Amaro as well as contestants Marcus Canty, Astro and Chris Rene to his label Epic Records — are the only two left standing after the first season. Although the success of the first season may not have been up to Cowell’s standards, Entertainment Weekly has reported that “X Factor” did come in No. 1 in the ratings among unscripted shows for the fall. Cowell previously told CNN as “X Factor” wrapped up its first season in December, “Never finish a season thinking it’s the best you’ve ever done, because you have to feel that you can get better…I think I probably came here a bit too cocky, but I’m cocky by nature.” What do you think of the switch-up? Was it to be expected?
