"DJ IDOL"SIMON COWELL TEAMS UP WITH WILL & JADA PINKETT-SMITH FOR A NEW INTERNATIONAL DJ COMPETITION SHOW

Between his work on "American Idol," "Britain's Got Talent" and "The X Factor," Simon Cowell has been harvesting pop stars and helping to hone their natural talents for over a decade. He has made Kelly Clarkson **, Carrie Underwood ** and Leona Lewis ** household names, and now, Cowell is apparently ready to find the next Skrillex. The music mogul's Syco Entertainment has announced a partnership with Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith's Overbrook Entertainment to develop a live, international TV show dedicated to finding the world's next great DJ. Syco, Overbrook and Sony Pictures Television will soon unveil their U.S. and U.K. broadcast partners for the project. "We have been working on this show for over a year and we wanted to partner with the right people," says Cowell in a statement. "DJ's are the new rock stars, it feels like the right time to make this show." Pinkett-Smith adds, "This show will comb the world to find a new breed of talent." Cowell recently presided over the debut season of the U.S. "X Factor," which crowned Melanie Amaro its inaugural winner last month. Fox renewed the show for a second season in November. Meanwhile, "Idol" producer and XIX Entertainment CEO Simon Fuller is readying his own music competition with an international scope. "Q'Viva: The Chosen," Jennifer Lopez ** and Marc Anthony **'s Latin talent show, premieres this Saturday (Jan. 28) on Univision, and will follow on Fox a few weeks later.
