Are they worth the fee?

In todays society, where Reality TV shows are drawing in a lot of the viewers, and ratings, the stand outs of these shows are cashing in with club appearances, autograph signings at retail, book deals, runoff shows, and now college speaking events. Is this a generation of people being nosey, or the want for more reality in the media? We all have our pick of reality shows we like, and in those shows we have the characters that stand out to everyone watching. Either cause they are loud, crazy, a bully, sexy, etc. Whatever it is they keep our attention on them for most of the show. The question is are these reality TV stars worth the high prices for us to see them in person? Snooki from Jersey Shore was paid $32,000 dollars to speak at Rutgers University, which is more than alot of known artist get for shows. Is this the new way to get the American Dream? Or is it media showing us they can control a lot more than we think?
