J Hollow from Oakland, CA started rapping in '98 when he was twelve. he first started rapping with his big cousin Tamarkus in the laundry room with the kareoke set that Tamarcus had and a piano that his mama bought him for Christmas. They came up with the song "Front Line Put your Face in the Dirt." "Hush Your Mouth" was the first song they put out as the Village Kids when Onions yelled out "Village Kids" at the end of his verse. Then we dropped the self titled Village Kids album. A few years passed and everyone took a break from music but after H.U. got him on the "Lower Bottom" video, he started to feel re-inspired. Houston’s family has agreed to allow the Associated Press to stream her private funeral on Saturday at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, the news service said. The link is livestream.com/aplive. Gospel singer and family friend Marvin Winans will give the eulogy, while Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder will sing at the service, before she is buried at Fair View Cemetery in Westfield. Though officials had discussed the possibility of a public memorial at the Prudential Center in Newark, the Houston family has ruled this out. Gov. Chris Christie has defended a plan to fly the state and American flags in New Jersey at half-staff on Saturday in Ms. Houston’s honor, tweeting that he was doing so in recognition of “her cultural contributions as an artist & New Jerseyan. Christie did the same thing last year in honor of Clarence Clemons.

JANET JACKSON IS FLIRTING WITH BEING A X FACTOR JUDGE

Just one week after The Hollywood Reporter broke news that Whitney Houston was under consideration for a judge's seat on the show, reports have surfaced that another pop icon is throwing her hat in the ring. After an awkward interaction with Anderson Cooper on Thursday, in which Jackson tiptoed around the subject, sources tell THR the singer has expressed interest in joining the show. 

"Oh my God," the 45-year-old said on-air with a laugh. "No, I'm not a judge on The X Factor." "You're not currently a judge on The X Factor," responded Cooper. 

"No, I am not," said Jackson. "But that's all I really think I should say." Any talks are currently in the preliminary stages, as Simon Cowell holds meetings this week with potential candidates to fill the shoes of ousted judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones. Another source tells THR that pop bad girl Pink is high on Cowell's wish list. The singer, whose real name is Alicia Moore, has credibility, Grammy awards and sass, plus "she can take on Simon." Cowell also has acknowledged an interest in "I Kissed a Girl" singer Katy Perry, telling Extra, "I worked with Katy once. I think she would be fun because she is hard - in a good way - and she's feisty." "She would be great," he continued. "In terms of experience, success … brilliant."

WHITNEY WILL HAVE A SEND OFF TO REMEMBER

GODMOTHER OF SOUL: Aretha Franklin will headline the royal sendoff for her goddaughter, Whitney Houston, the N.Y. Daily News reports. Among the other celebrity guests expected at the funeral: Clive Davis, L.A. Reid, Houston’s off-and-on boyfriend Ray J and his sister Brandy, Valerie Simpson, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, Chaka Khan, sources told the paper. The service is to be broadcast on TV and duo on the Internet. Houston’s family is also considering adding a musical tribute by gospel greats BeBe & CeCe Winans, younger siblings of the Rev. Marvin Winans, who is delivering Houston’s eulogy. It remained unclear whether Bobby Brown, would attend to support the couple’s fragile 18-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina. Visitors to Houston’s mom Cissy said they expect he will.

NICKI MINAJ MAKES QUITE A FEW CATHOLICS MAD WITH HER GRAMMY PERFORMANCE

Nicki Minaj **'s 2012 Grammys onstage exorcism yesterday (Feb. 12), left most people one of three: confused, blown away or offended. The Catholic League issued a statement of the rapstress' performance that leaves no doubt to which one of those three categories they belong to. According to the Gothamis [Link]t, Bill Donahue of the Catholic League expressed his organization's displeasure: "Perhaps the most vulgar part was the sexual statement that showed a scantily clad female dancer stretching backwards while an altar boy knelt between her legs in prayer." Later in the statement, Donahue faulted The Recording Academy for giving Minaj's performance the green light. "None of this was by accident, and all of it was approved by The Recording Academy, which puts on the Grammys. Whether Minaj is possessed is surely an open question, but what is not in doubt is the irresponsibility of The Recording Academy. Never would they allow an artist to insult Judaism or Islam." Minaj's performance of her single "Roman Holiday" included a pretaped segment of a mock exorcism that began with her singing a manic version of "I Feel Pretty" to her reflection. The live set had dancing monks and priests dancing with and around a horizontal Minaj levitating high above the stage ato ne point.

WHITNEY HOUSTON FUNERAL SET FOR NEWARK,NJ'S BIGGEST VENUE

WHITNEY FUNERAL SET: Whitney Houston’s funeral has been scheduled for Friday (2/17) at Newark’s Prudential Center. The 18,500-seat arena is the largest indoor venue in the city, where the late singer grew up singing in the nearby New Hope Baptist Church. The service is being modeled on Michael Jackson’s 2009 public memorial at L.A.’s Staples Center, which brought out thousands to bid farewell in an event that included Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, Mariah Carey, Usher, Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson.

T-Pain Talks Charity Concert, '5 O'Clock' Grammy Snub

Between promoting his latest album "rEVOLVEr," hosting another benefit concert in his native Tallahassee this March and participating in Guitar Center's "Your Next Record" program, T-Pain ** is in store for a hectic 2012. Yet as the Grammy Awards approach this weekend, the rapper-turned-singer is looking back -- and trying to figure out how his latest hit, "5 O'Clock" featuring Wiz Khalifa ** and Lily Allen **, didn't earn any nominations. "We made the deadline for this year -- I definitely made sure of that," T-Pain tells Billboard.com about submitting "5 O'Clock," which peaked at No. 10 on the Hot 100, for Grammy consideration. "The weird thing was, stat-wise and chart-wise, this is one of the biggest songs I've ever made. It's huge, and the crazy thing is, I have zero Grammy nominations. But when I didn't have songs of this caliber I was getting four or five a year. That's the only weird thing about the song that confuses me, but hey, whatever." Still, T-Pain remains in good spirits -- after all, the hip-hop/R&B artist has a pair of Grammys, one for Kanye West **'s "Good Life" and another for Jamie Foxx **'s "Blame It." Now, Pain has used his knack for collaboration to wrangle the talent for Come To The Crib 2, a benefit concert in conjunction with his newly launched "If I Could Change the World" charity at the Tallahassee Leon County Civic Center on Mar. 31. T-Pain has also been tapped to be a part of Guitar Center's "Your Next Record" artist discovery program: unsigned artists will submit original tracks through the contest, and the most promising candidate will have their single produced and written by T-Pain in a unique studio experience. Previous participants in the program include Slash ** and Travis Barker **. "I just want to give somebody a chance and show them how this life is, and really get them into the game the way they deserve it," says T-Pain. "If the music is good, then they have no choice but to get on. It's God's will that they get on so I'm just giving them a path, I'm giving them a way to really make it the way they really deserve." NEW FLO RIDA "WILD ONES" VIDEO

If the "Wild Ones" music video proves anything, it's that Flo Rida **'s means of transportation are infinitely cooler than our own. The Florida rapper travels to various locations around Dubai in the most extreme way possible for the clip, which sadly does not feature an appearance by Australian pop star Sia **. "I like crazy, foolish, stupid/Party going wild, fist-pumping music," Flo raps while chilling on a fan boat, seconds after he is shown jumping out of a plane and skydiving with his buddies. Later he's describing his wildness on a hovercraft, then he's tearing up some dirt in a dune buggy. But when the sun goes down and the ladies come out, Flo Rida gleefully returns to his musical birthplace: the club. While "Good Feeling," Flo Rida's first single from the forthcoming "Only One Rida (Part 2)," climbs back to No. 3 on the Hot 100, "Wild Ones" leaps 23 spots to No. 77 this week. "Only One Rida," of course, follows 2010's "Only One Flo."

SUGE KNIGHT GETS CAUGHT UP IN LAS VEGAS (WEED & TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS)

Rap music mogul Suge Knight has a date with a Las Vegas judge after he was arrested on traffic warrant and misdemeanor drug charges. Officer Laura Meltzer says the 46-year-old former Death Row Records executive was stopped driving a black Bentley with California plates around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday on a street just off Flamingo Road west of the Las Vegas Strip. Knight was accused of making an unsafe lane change and possession of less than one ounce of a controlled substance and released from jail without bail. He's due March 12 in Las Vegas Municipal Court. 20 Smokin' Songs About Weed * Attorney David Chesnoff has represented Knight in previous Las Vegas cases. He wasn't immediately available for comment. Celebrity website TMZ first reported the arrest. It says Knight had marijuana with him in the car.

CHRIS BROWN TO REMAIN ON PROBATION FOR NOW

Chris Brown ** has been getting attention for all the right reasons lately, but a judge said Thursday that he should continue to remain under the watchful eye of a probation officer as he works to complete the terms of his sentence for beating then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. The Grammy-nominated R&B singer did not appear for a brief hearing during which his attorney asked that Brown's term on supervised probation be ended because of his good behavior. Superior Court Judge George Lomeli agreed with prosecutors that despite the singer's high marks so far, he should continue to report to a probation officer in his home state of Virginia. Brown is in the midst of a remarkable comeback, with the singer set to perform at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night. His multi-hit album, "F.A.M.E. (Forgiving All My Enemies) was a top seller and he is nominated for three Grammys, including best R&B album. Attorney Mark Geragos' request came after Brown's probation officer wrote in a report that the singer has been truthful with officers, passed all required drug tests and "has made great strides" while under probation supervision. He has completed half of the six months' worth of roadside cleanup, graffiti removal and other manual labor that he was ordered to do after pleading guilty to attacking Rihanna. Brown was ordered to serve five years on probation. The favorable probation report was written three years to the day after the attack, which left Rihanna bloody, bruised and unable to perform at the Grammys. Lomeli said he didn't think it was unreasonable for Brown to remain under supervision until he completes more of his community service hours. Brown has completed anger management and domestic violence counseling, and last year another judge relaxed a restraining order that had prohibited Brown and Rihanna from contacting each other or getting too close at music industry events. The judge scheduled another progress hearing for July 10.

NICKI MINAJ SPEAKS ON THE GRAMMYS, AND A NBA ALL STAR PERFORMANCE

Ballers want to be rappers, and rappers want to be ballers. With her second studio album set for this April, hip-hop diva Nicki Minaj ** has announced a wave of news, including her next single, Grammy plans, and a performance at the 2012 NBA All-Star Game. Minaj will hit the 54th Annual Grammy Awards with a new song. Nicki will give the Barbz a preview of "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded" (April 3) when she performs a never before heard track, titled, "Roman Holiday." The song will go on-sale immediately after the telecast. Aside from her performance, Minaj is up for four Gammys including Best New Artist and Best Rap Album. The day after her big Grammy night (Feb, 13), Ryan Seacrest will premiere Minaj's newest single, "Starships." Fans can download the track on iTunes the same day. Nicki Minaj will wrap up a busy February with a performance at the 2012 NBA All-Star Game in Orlando on Feb. 26th. A press release hinted Minaj will perform, but did not reveal if for the halftime show.

DEFJAM'S NEW GM NAMED "GABRIELLE PELUSO"

DEF JAM UPS PELUSO: Gabrielle Peluso has been named GM for Def Jam Recordings by Island Def Jam Music Group President/COO Steve Bartels. She will be responsible for the label’s day-to-day activities, scheduling and organization on behalf of its artists, reporting to Bartels. Peluso served as SVP Video Promotion for IDJMG since 2006. Prior to that, she was VP Video Promotions since 2004, following a stint as Director of the department. She began her music career in 1996, as assistant to the former president of Def Jam, moving to the publicity department, where she served as Director until 2000. "Def Jam is undeniably the most important brand in urban music," said Peluso.
